When we get snowed in, we snowboard in the yard!

It had been since Gus' dad was here, before hunting camp, that we had our last big snow.  Last week we got about 18 inches of thick, heavy, wet, spring snow.  It snowed for 2 nights, and 1 day, and we shoveled the driveway all day on the first day.  We would shovel the driveway from top to bottom, and by the time we got back to the top again, the snow had covered it all over again!  It really was driving me crazy after a while.  We kept on top of it for about 8 hours or so, and then gave up.  The next day we shoveled again,  and the storm was finally over!  The sun had come out bringing the temperature into the 60's, the skies were blue, and the snow that just arrived in the days before, was half melted by the end of the day!  That is one thing I am truly amazed about.   It will snow for days, then after the storm the sun comes out and it's gone in about the time it took to accumulate in the first place!  So your probably wondering if we spent the whole time shoveling snow, instead of enjoying it.  Well, we definitely made time for fun.  We have a box and rail in the yard that we've been snowboarding on.  It's been a blast.  Also Essie got on a snowboard for the first time. She did great.  We might convert her yet!  We also made a snowman!  We've watched him slowly melt back into the snowbank.  It seemed kind of sad to watch in my opinion.  I almost wanted to plow him over to put him out of his misery.    We all went over to Cara's parents house on Sunday night to play cards.  That was  so fun.  I love hanging out with those two.  I'm really grateful for time we've had to spend with them this season.  It has given us the chance to get to know them, and them to know us.
We got our second storm last night into today.  This time we got about 16 inches of the same kind of snow.  Again very heavy.  I forgot to mention our friend Reed, who plows during these types of storms.  He has been kind enough to come plow the driveway quite a few times during the last 2 snows, helping us out in the shoveling department!  Thanks, Reed.
It's really melting down now, and the sun's out again, making the roads already dry, and the snowplows going strong all night long helped as well.  Tomorrow the temperature is supposed to be in the 70's!  I better remember to put on sunscreen at the ski slope.  I've already gotten sunburn on my face, going snowboarding!
