Welcome to another hot day.  It was 94 degrees today.  It was a long day as well.  We drove about 11 1/2 hours today, about 333 miles.  We also learned that you can't do everything with a RV, especially driving downtown in the city.  We went to Fort Wanye, Indiana, where we saw Johnny Appleseed Park, and his gravesite.  We learned a lot about him that we didn't know.  He was born in 1774, as John Chapman.  He was a friend to all God's creations, and a missionary of christian denomination.  He was a smart business man who purchased property, carefully sowed apple seeds, and sell the seedlings to settlers when they arrived.  His seedlings were valuable because apples are highly nutritious, and orchards were a symbol of wealth.  He would often tell his customers, "pay me when you can".  Material things meant little to Johnny, except when they could make a child smile, give a pioneer family the means to improve their diet, or  cash income.  Apples were used for pioneer currency.  He lived and worked in the area there until his death in 1845.  Johnny lived a life of harmony with nature that impressed native americans, as well as fellow americans.  His thoughts were of God, and his greeting was often, "I have good news from heaven".  He must have been a good salesman.  People love him.  Well, we were pretty impressed ourselves by what we had learned.  Anyway, we tried to go downtown to see the Lincoln Museum, but we couldn't find it, and there was no place to park the camper.  We found that out again heading towards Chicago, Illinois.  Man, the traffic there was totally nuts.  We decided to go around it thinking it was definitely not a smart idea to try and go into a major city downtown such as Chicago.  So we drove a few hours getting away from the city, back to the country.  It wound up being pretty much the same Indiana.  Farm lands with lots of corn.  We had to take a break then and get some much needed icecream, and air conditioning!  We drove a few more hours to finally arrive at our destination for the night.  Yep, you guessed it, another Wal-mart parking lot.  We never thought we would be so happy to see it.  Hopefully tomorrow we will go to another RV park, so we can have air conditioning of our own again.  Until then we're just trying to stay cool, and make it to Iowa tomorrow.
