The Dungeness Spit in Sequim
Well the festival ended on Sunday night. We stayed at Wal-Mart that night. In the morning we headed for the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge. It's a strip of rocky beach that shoots out in between the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and the Dungeness Bay. It's a home for many birds and other marine wildlife. You can walk to the end of the spit. It's a 5.5 miles from the parking lot to the end of the spit. At the end there's a functioning lighthouse which is a National Historic Site. We walked the spit to the lighthouse and back. It was a long walk taking about 5 hours! We made the mistake of not taking any food with us. I was starving by the time we got back. The lighthouse was really neat. There was a few keeper's there who stay at the lighthouse for a week at a time. They do things at and around the lighthouse to keep things running smoothly, and they give daily tours to people like us who take the walk over to it. Very nice and knowledgeable people who know a lot about the history of the lighthouse and the surrounding areas. We climbed to the top of the lighthouse and got to see some seals, and a young bald eagle in some binoculars. Well, when we got back to the camper, we were wiped out. We haven't done anything like that in a while. We headed about 14 miles west to Port Angeles. We went to a campground to hook up and get electric, and water pressure! I was too tired to cook so we went downtown to get something to eat. We ate at Port Angeles Crab House. Really good food. Got some hot showers and went to bed. We slept good. Today we went downtown to a couple stores. Some thrift stores, a bead shop, a natural food store, and the store about the movie twilight. The movie was actually filmed in parts of Port Angeles, and the town a few miles up called Forks. We passed a woman named Kate and her daughter who we met at the Open Aire Market in Sequim. She does tie dye and sells her stuff there, and also a farmer's market in Port Angeles where she lives with her husband Joe. Cool to see here again and she recognized us as we were walking up the sidewalk. Went back to the camper then. I made some earrings, and Gus messed around with the radio in the camper. I made dinner and then were going to watch a movie. Miss you all. Sorry no pictures. I have some and have been trying to post them but I'm having trouble doing so. I'll try again later.

How cool to see somebody again on your travels! Small world... Sounds like the campground was a welcome relief from your Wally Worlds nites. It's so great to have those differences so we can really experience what we enjoy even more. By the time you get this you will probably be immersed in the quiet of the rainforest. Truly a contrast to the open expansion of Glacier but no less moving. Look forward to hearing about it from your point of view. Always a treat to read. Thx again for sharing it all. xo
