The Lavender Festival- Sequim, Washington

What a beautiful day today!  Blue skies, cool breezes, sunshine, and the smell of lavender everywhere.  It's so great to be here!  After we got up, we had a mountain of dishes to do which we have neglected to do for quit a few days now.  After we got those out of the way, we ate breakfast, and packed a lunch for the day.  We headed out and went to three more different lavender farms.  Jardin du Soleil, Olympic, and Port Williams.  We also stopped at a little organic farm store called Nash's organic produce.  People have the option of purchasing their produce there in the store along with other organic products from local artists, as well as purchasing in their farm share program in which you would receive a box each week of food grown on the farm!  Awesome!  It supports the farmers to help them continue this great service to the community, getting to know the customers on a more personal basis, and the people get amazing fresh food grown locally.  It's a win win situation!  Anyway, we went back to the street fair to walk around a bit before heading back to Purple Haze farm.  We got to meet some more very talented artists doing there own thing!  They were happy to see us and what we're doing which was equally as cool.  At Purple Haze we heard some more music.  Green Light Situation is a newer local band, still working on their album.  We only caught the last few songs they did but they were great!  Hopefully we'll see them tomorrow.  We also saw Geoffrey Castle again.  Just amazing what he can do on the electric violin!  He ranges in music from bluegrass to trippin' out like Jimi Hendrix.  His last song was a take on Jimi's version of the Star Spangled Banner.  It's amazing how he can make a violin sound like a guitar, and also a bass.  Gus got to  meet the owner of the farm, Mike and his wife Rosalind they were cool.  After meeting them he realized why they named it Purple Haze.  Besides the 7 acres of purple lavender, they're a totally hip couple straight out of the 60's.  I picked my own bunch of lavender at the farm.  We headed back to the camper to cook some dinner.  Now we're stuffed, drinking some coffee, and winding down for tomorrow, the last day of the festival.  We hope to check out the last two remaining farms, the rest of the street fair, and some more music at Purple Haze.  Miss all of you!

  2. HAHA! Good one. You guys look like you 'fit' right in...:) Love the lavender sprigs they used for the Purple Haze letters over the stage. Must have been something to see how the whole town got into the creative spirit. A true sense of community. Yea! LOVE the shot of you, Heather, smelling the lavender. I can 'feel' the fragrance in your eyes. Life IS good... And it was SO good talking with you both. So much awesome stuff to share. Thx!...xo
(Oh, watch out for that western Sun - it's easier to get burned out there where the air is clean and dry!)
