Olympic National Park 11

When Gus went out for a smoke this morning he saw this rabbit in our campsite.  He was there quit a while just munchin on some leaves.  Well this was the last full day we had in the park, we went to check out La Push, a town about 6 miles away from Mora.  There was Second and Third Beach which we went to check out.  Second Beach was cool, but kind of trashy.  Not as nice as Rialto Beach.  (the one a mile from our campground).  It was kind of chilly out, and the sky was pretty cloudy, but that didn't stop the surfers from ridin some waves.  They weren't really huge waves, and they weren't really far out into the ocean, so it looked like a good spot to learn.  Then we went to Third Beach.  To actually get to the beach you had to walk a 1 1/4 mile trail through the woods.  It was a really nice trail, and a lot of people were out that day checking out the beach as well.  A lot of people were going to camp at the beach.  We got to the beach and wow was it different from Second Beach.  It was a lot nicer, lush plants in the woods by the beach.  Warm sand to stick your feet in, and the water was beautiful.  So was the sky, blue and the sun was shining.  The was some wind blowing which made it kind of cold.  The water was freezing cold which is why the surfers were wearing full body wetsuits.  A bunch of tents set up along the beach where people were campin out.  They were just hangin out on the beach.  We hung out a little while, then headed back up the trail.  The hike back started up steep for a while.  It was quit a workout.  I was imagining being one of those campers on the beach and having to lug all your equipment up the steep part!  At the top of the climb, there was a bench appropriately placed for people to take a much needed brake.  We however kept going for fear that our bodies would not move again if we sat down.  The rest of the trail wasn't bad and went pretty quick.  We went back to the campsite to relax a while and get something to eat.  We had a fire, and used the rest of our firewood.  Those fires really kept us warm, since the campground was pretty shaded it kept it kind of cool.  We played some more dominoes.  Gus pulled a head for about a second, and then I once again took my spot in the lead.  We had dinner and then headed to Rialto Beach for the evening to hopefully catch the sunset and have a fire on the beach.   That slimy lookin thing in the top picture is a banana slug.
