Olympic National Park 12

Well finally, this is the last day in the park.  We got up and did our chores in order for us to leave the campground.  It's always kind of sad leaving the National Parks when your there camping for a while.  You miss it, but on the same hand it's nice getting back to more normal things I guess.  Getting nice hot showers and electricity mainly.  Those are luxuries for us.  Anyway, we left the campground, headed back through Forks to get gas, then drove an hour or so  through the rest of the park.  We hit quit a bit of road work.  Then we went through the rest of Washington, and it was still sort of early so we decided to keep going to Oregon.  We made it and went over quit a long bridge into Oregon.  That was pretty cool.  Astoria was the first town we got to.  It looked really cool, but we didn't have time to stop.  We needed to find a place to stay the night.  We drove a little more than a hour to the nearest Wal-Mart.  Well they didn't allow overnight stays.  They said it was a county law.  They directed us to another Wal-Mart up the road a few miles in Portland.  It was in a different county, and they heard they allowed it.  So we went there and the parking lot security guard came over to talk to us.  He said are you here to shop or stay overnight.  Of course we were looking to stay, and he said the managers don't allow it any more based on a previous circumstance.  The guard was pretty nice, but didn't really have a solution for us.  Well by that time we were very exhausted, and pretty hungry.  So we kept looking for a spot.  Went to the Goodwill which was closing up for the night to see if they would let us stay.  They said no, but told us about a 24 hour grocery store in the next parking lot.  Then we checked out the mall parking lot up the street, there was one camper, and a truck, but they had signs posted everywhere about towing unauthorized vehicles.  Well we needed some food to eat, so we went to Old Chicago Pizza.  That was pretty good.  We even asked the manager on duty about maybe staying in there parking lot.  He said he didn't think it would be a problem, but the parking lot is owned by the mall so it wasn't really his place to give us permission.  So we decided to take our chances on the 24 hour grocery store.  We got there around 10:30 pm.  Went in to see the manager but he wasn't in until 12:00am.  The guy we talked to didn't think it would be a problem.  They had a water refilling station so we filled up our jugs, and walked around a while since we didn't really have anything else to do.  We got out to the camper about 11:30pm.  I'm pretty surprised how busy the grocery store was that late.  We stayed up a little then decided to just go to bed with the windows open to hear any possible trucks coming our way.  Man what a long day.  We haven't driven that long in one day for a while.
